I think it's a super-solid effort and I'd love to see another try at this kind of thing with the HUGE wrinkles ironed out. ![]() Upgrades to your ability to traverse the world come in fits and starts, and most of them are so big that they turn aspects of the game from frustrating to boring with almost no in-between. There are definitely occasions where I wandered off in some direction and was pleasantly surprised to find something cool, but most of the time it felt like the game was just kinda coyly giggling at me as I wandered aimlessly looking for the corner of the map I missed that would lead me to something new. On the other hand, there's a lot I DON'T dig about Crystal Project, most notably the actual exploring the world part. In particular, the game does an excellent job of explaining its mechanics and seems to be intentionally designed so you can satisfyingly learn about basically every aspect of the game without needing to rely on a walkthrough or wiki. ![]() I'm conflicted on this, because there's a LOT I dig about Crystal Project.
